The Athens Democracy Forum 2022 marks its 10-year-anniversary

Client: In Association with The New York Times by the Democracy & Culture Foundation in collaboration with SGT Tsomokos
Year: 2022

This marks the sixth consecutive assignment for our team, dedicated to designing, organizing, producing, and executing the comprehensive set design, production, and technical setup of the forum. This collaborative effort involves Tsomokos Communications agency, in association with the Democracy & Cultural Foundation and organized by the New York Times.

ADF 2022 seamlessly blended a physical and online event, exploring the theme "A Decade of Democracy: What Now?" The discussions delved into setbacks democracies have faced over the past decade, despite promising developments globally.

The Forum showcased innovative approaches to address challenges facing democracy, emphasizing significant youth participation across sessions. Renowned global figures, such as the 8th United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon (in person), President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen (in person), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (virtually), and other political and business leaders, contributed to defining, assessing, and addressing critical global questions.

The ADF forum inauguration occurred at Zappeion Megaron on September 27th, featuring an opening discussion and a documentary viewing on a high-definition LED screen at the Atrium of Zappeion. The forum officially commenced on September 28th with an opening speech by the President of the Hellenic Parliament, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, concluding on September 30th.

Various locations, including the Zappeion Halls, Stoa of Attalos, and the premises of the Academy of Athens, hosted the event. These venues facilitated remarkable discussion panels, debates, workshops, sponsored lunches, and art exhibitions, providing an outstanding experience for all participants.
